Remote job search checklist
Use this checklist to make your remote job search more deliberate. You do not need to complete every step for every role; use the level of preparation the opportunity deserves.
Before you search
Write down the roles you can credibly pursue, the work you want more of, and the constraints that matter: time zone, location, schedule, compensation, and travel.
- Update your base resume.
- Choose a small set of target role names.
- Decide which requirements are non-negotiable.
When you find a role
Check the source, employer, location policy, closing date, and requirements. Save the original link and note why the role is worth your time before you start tailoring.
Before you apply
Match the most relevant experience to the role, remove unsupported claims, answer required questions carefully, and proofread the final materials. Make sure the application still sounds like you.
After you apply
Record the date, portal or contact, expected timeline, and next follow-up. Then move on to the next good opportunity instead of checking the same inbox all day.
